Hi there STEP. How do you hint to someone that you want some space without hurting their feelings or making it awkward? -Smothered

Honestly, I would always say to talk it out with the other person. If they’re really your friend, best friend, or significant other they’d understand. It may hurt at first, but honestly, everybody is entitled to their own personal privacy and space. Communication between individuals is always important. Never forget that.

If you’re not the type to do that, then be firm with your responses and decline things. Don’t be too blunt about your answers if they’re asking you to hangout, but at least give them the slightest hint that you’re not interested (at the moment) or that you have something else to do.
